LOVE OF LAND & SHORE

Following Anne in the Heart of PEI

Following Anne of Green Gables

Much like today’s residents of the Heart of PEI, the famed red-haired heroine of one of the world’s most popular novels also had a passion for the Prince Edward Island landscape and the people who lived in her community. While the village of Avonlea may be fictional, many of the local places that inspired author L.M. Montgomery are very much real, located in the Heart of PEI, and are not all that much changed from a century ago.

In New London you can visitMontgomery’s Birthplace, while Park Corner is home to theAnne of Green Gables Museum(the original home of the author’s aunt and uncle).

More serious Anne fans will want to book themselves acarriage ridewith “Matthew” which takes you by Anne’s beloved Lake of Shining Waters.

L.M. Montgomery’s paternal grandfather, Senator Montgomery and his family lived close by at Ingleside, now an inn.
