Music in the Heart of PEI

Music From the Heart

So what’s a “ceilidh” anyway? In simple terms, a place to hear great traditional music, and meet new friends. It’s originally a Gaelic term and according to the dictionary a ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee), is “a social event at which there is Scottish or Irish folk music and singing, traditional dancing, and storytelling.” And guess where you’ll find “PEI’s Ceilidh Destination” – right in the Heart of PEI of course at the Stanley Bridge Hall. Just up the road to the north the Indian River Festival brings the very best in classical, traditional, folk, jazz and world music to Historic St. Mary’s Church. The fully restored church venue alone is worth a visit but check their schedule for what’s coming up. Finally, if you are a music buff, be sure to check out PEI’s monthly arts paper The Buzz, which will have all the up-to-the-minute news on music venues in the area!
