Shopping in the Heart of PEI

A Piece of Our Heart

Well, we hate to do it – but we couldn’t resist slipping in some advice from Janis Joplin to “take another little piece of our heart” home by visiting some of the many talented artisans of the Heart of PEI.

Village Pottery in Stanley Bridge is actually the longest running pottery studio in PEI. And bonus - you will not only find work created by the Scott family but items from 10 other local potters plus Island-made crafts and artwork. Oh yeah, note the ice cream parlour on site as well! Your bonus at the Kitchen Witch in Long River is that you can also take a tea break while shopping! Same story at O’Neil’s Plate and Palette where you will find a brilliant mix of culinary and fine arts on offer. When passing through the Kensington Train Station – as you most certainly will on any visit to the Heart of PEI – stop in to the Kensington Art Gallery Cooperative where 20 Island artists show and sell their creations. Be sure to ask questions as the Gallery is staffed by members of the coop. Located in Historic North Bedeque School is the PEI Fox Den, with the works of over 50 local artisans including pottery, soaps, candles, visual art, woodwork and much more.

Looking for whimsical and original metal creations? The artists at Malpeque Fine Iron have plenty of imagination and they even produce weathervanes!

Our community is working together to promote tourism and economic growth in Kensington and the Heart of PEI region.
